TECH Signs Meet
New ANSI Standards

Since 1948 Tech Products, Inc. has been manufacturing substation signage to the electric utility industry. Recently, one of our largest west coast customers came to us with a pressing problem and we went to work to solve it. They had a young man climb a substation fence and, unfortunately, he had gotten electrocuted. The utility took the event as a wake up call and wanted to update their signage to meet the new 2007 ANSI requirements. The other challenge they gave us is to produce all their signage needs in a five month period so they can install them all within six months.

Our art department and account managers set to work immediately and had drawings that met the ANSI standard done within the week. After some changes and improvements by the engineering department, we set to work and had the first set of signs produced within a month. We are now just finishing the four month and are set to have produced over 6,000 signs. Even better, the signs we have produced are using our Everlast® technology and are proven to not fade for over 40 years making sure that the utility always has the proper signage on their substations.

Siemens Power Academy TD US

Siemens Power Technologies International (Siemens PTI), a provider of network consulting, software solutions, and T&D training in the Siemens Energy Sector, is celebrating its 40th year of business in 2009. In conjunction with this milestone, we are also celebrating our new headquarters and a redesign of the Siemens Power Academy TD US Education and Training Catalog.

Since our formation in 1969, Siemens PTI has been known for its world-renowned engineering experience and innovative software and technology. Our portfolio encompasses a comprehensive range of services across technical, economic, and regulatory disciplines that include network analysis and solution development, expert testimony and industry training, as well as system solution integration. This success allowed us to relocate Siemens PTI's headquarters in June 2008 to a 30,000 square foot custom facility in downtown Schenectady, NY. This new location is home to our network consulting and software engineering teams as well as our new state-of-the-art Siemens Power Academy TD US headquarters.

With the release of the 2009 Education and Training Catalog, we are pleased to introduce a new program format. This design will increase your ease of use and provide guidance in determining which courses are best for you and your professional development. The first component to this is the organization of courses by discipline: distribution, power systems, software, transmission, and equipment-based curriculums. Paired with these themes, we have also set up a course leveling system which denotes the sequence of courses starting at foundational concepts and curriculum disciplines and tiered structure, you will be guided in course selection, be able to self-direct professional development opportunities, and ultimately strive for an Advance Certificate in one of the four disciplines. Register today or browse our catalog at http://www.usa.siemens.com/energy/pti-education.
